Why are values important to us at a personal, organization and societal level?

“If I take care of my character, my reputation will take care of itself.”

D L Moody

You can use core values to good effect to provide:

  • a reference for decision making
  • clarity and increased awareness about behaviours (individual and collective, self and others)
  • a basis for reflection and enquiry
  • stories for reinforcement

The result of taking this approach is that you will behave more consistently – viewed from within or from the outside – in an environment which is clearer and less ambiguous. It will help you with “how” you feel, think and behave, as much, if not more than, with “what” you do.

We know that by being aware of your values and then making choices and taking actions in line with them, that your life will be richer, more meaningful and happier.

“When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier.”

Roy E. Disney
