During this long life what gifts did I seek?
Sometimes it was strength when I felt so weak.
One request often did sound in my mind,
It was for deep peace of a special kind.
Real peace is not felt in pleasure or pain,
It is present in whatever you gain.
Peace dwells in the silence between speaking,
Also in music when one is singing.
Peace can be found in the beauty of art,
It is felt through the calming of the heart.
One important lesson I have been taught,
That peace is only there beyond all thought.
To meditate is the natural way,
To let go of the thoughts that want to stay.
Stay with the mantra peace is commanding,
Find the peace beyond all understanding.
Just a taste of that fine peace makes one free,
This is what peace has come to mean for me.
